A PRACTICAL DAY OF DEVISED INTEGRATED PHYSICAL THEATRE LED BY HUBBUB WITH GECKO, TOLD BY AN IDIOT AND CAN’T SIT STILL – NOT TO BE MISSED.

Over the last 12 months we have established an actor training model for performers with learning disabilities which develops an innovative and collaborative working approach to enable all kinds of professional theatre makers to work together with equality. As the first year of the training programme draws to a close, we are inviting you to join us on Friday 22 June 2018 for a day of devised integrated physical theatreexploring the ‘Space in Between’ learning disabled and non-disabled performance and what we’ve discovered to date. Project partners, Gecko, Told by an Idiot and Can’t Sit Still will also attend and input on the day.

The LaunchPad training programme and event have been made possible by Arts Council England Elevate funding. Hubbub is one of eleven companies creating artwith or for people with disabilities, in receipt of Elevate funds.

The day is designed for theatre makers, producers, artists, writers and creatives and we hope to give an insight into the process and experience of working in a devised physical theatre space with actors with and without learning disabilities. It will be a day of doing, seeing, talking and reflecting on the unique creative potential inspired by a collaborative approach.

Hubbub specialise in training and working with learning disabled actors to create powerful and playful theatre through integrated devising. The event offers opportunities to learn more about the company, our technique and philosophy, as well as practical exploration through warm up and workshops led by Hubbub, Gecko, Told by an Idiot and Cant’ Sit Still. There will also be a scratch performance of our work in progress and the chance to take part in meaningful conversations about the reasons we make work and who we make it for.

Having the opportunity to understand the different needs of all kinds of performers and consider new communication methods will help you to get the very best out of the artists you work with, whatever their skills and abilities. Even if your focus isn’t working with learning disabled performers, the day will offer exciting new approaches to devising creative work and a vibrant arena in which to discuss, share and grow.
