Kessoku Remix

Following the highly successful tour of Kessoku – Tales of Togetherness, we developed a dynamic ‘pop-up’ remix of this show.

A girl born in a peach

A kettle that turns into a racoon?

Taking you from zen to mayhem in just 30 minutes, Kessoku Remix introduced you to these extraordinary characters from Japanese stories beautifully told through movement, music and puppetry. The was show suitable for all ages and abilities and each performance was followed by a talk with the company and free 40 minute workshops for adults with moderate learning disabilities.

A guaranteed uplifting experience!

Tales of Togetherness

‘Kessoku’  means unity in Japanese – a way of working together that values each individual as part of the whole.

This is how the Hubbub Theatre Company ensemble works, integrating the talents and ideas of everyone involved.

The production is based on 3 Japanese stories. It is full of fun and visual treats with physical theatre, puppetry, shadow projection, music, dance and more. Best described as ‘ Zen to mayhem in 50 minutes!,’ Kessoku  takes the audience from the stillness and ritual of Japanese meditation and movement into a high energy action-packed tanuki (that means a raccoon!) chase and fanfare which has delighted our diverse audiences.

Kessoku premiered at Déda, Derby on 14 November 2014 with 2 performances and great success.

Following on from this success we completed a fabulous five date tour of the revamped show in March 2016 at some of the East Midlands most prestigious venues.

Great for audiences of all ages, particularly audience members with moderate learning disabilities, their families and friends.
