It’s Thursday – which mean’s it’s The (not so) Quiet Revolution of Kindness rehearsal day and time to chat to another member of our production company! This time it’s over to our Movement Director Cat Boot of Can’t Sit Still Theatre Company who is also one of our Actor Training Course Tutors.

Here’s what Cat had to say:

What drew you to want to join Hubbub on The (not so) Quiet Revolution of Kindness? 

As the mother of a 3 year old I frequently feel overwhelmed by events I hear about on the news, and disempowered as to how my voice could make a difference on a global scale. The (not so) Quiet Revolution of Kindness invites the audience to imagine a world where a simple action can lead to lasting change. And if we can imagine that world, we can also live in it.

• What is the one best thing about working with Hubbub? 

The way the process puts the needs of each individual in the room before the making of art. And the way that through this process, great art is given the opportunity to emerge. And, of course, the Wobble!

• What are you looking forward to most on the performance day of The (not so) Quiet Revolution of Kindness at Derby Festé? 

Seeing the company parade down the street from the Cathedral in their amazing costumes and hearing their rallying call to action!

• Give us your favourite #RandomActofKindness slogan. 

It’s got to be the same as Maria – Kindness can change the world!

The (not so) Quiet Revolution of Kindness has been commissioned by Derby Festé and will premiere at the international Festival on Saturday 29 September 2018.

Inspired by the Random Acts of Kindness (RAK) and ‘Pay it Forward’ movements, The (not so) Quiet Revolution of Kindness makes a bold statement about how we can affect change in our own lives and others’ lives through small gestures of kindness. In a society where many of us feel disempowered and unable to make change on a large scale, these small acts of accumulative kindness can offer a sense of making a difference which can uplift, inspire and change on an individual and collective level.

The show will see an integrated ensemble of physical theatre performers with and without learning disabilities, delight audiences with a display of colour, movement and a motif of physicality, acrobalance and circus accompanied by original music.

Performances on Saturday 29 September begin at 1.30pm, 3.30pm and 5.00pm. Starting at Derby Cathedral the promenade show will makes it way to Derby’s Market Place and the performance will conclude on and around the city’s famous Waterfall Stage.
