The Hubbub Way is a methodology of facilitating the co-creative process and devising theatre and performance for people of all ages and abilities.
Throughout the year, we offer a 2-day introduction to The Hubbub Way, co-led by Jen Sumner and performers from our professional team of performers, The Company.
This two day training will give participants:
- An introduction to Hubbub’s method of co-creation with co-leadership, equity and kindness
- Ways to improve their practice and create a more accessible, co-creative process
- Improve wellbeing for self and those that they are working with
- Learn ways to communicate effectively to learning disabled, autistic and/or neurodivergent people in creative practice
- Learn skills on how to manage diverse groups in school & community settings
The Hubbub Way is a methodology of facilitating the co-creative process and devising theatre and performance for people of all ages and abilities. It has emerged over 25 years of practice, now articulated by Jen Sumner and the Hubbub team, developed with the support of Helen Baggett of Gecko Theatre. The Hubbub Way holds every person in the room as an equally valuable and unique part of the ‘whole’ and is endorsed by Derby Theatre, Derby University, and Central School of Speech and Drama as a model of best integrated practice.

- 16th & 17th October 2025 – designed for physical practitioners, dancers, movers.
- 22nd & 23rd January 2026
- 19th & 20th March 2026 – both designed for any kind of creative practitioner.

What time: 9:30am – 4.30pm
